so i made a concious decision to not watch trya again but my mom is currently watching it and i can hear the bullshit spilling into the hallway. theyre talking about tianna the new black disney princess and how much of an inspiration she is to black girls across america. excuse me? they even had a white girl talk about how much she loves that tianna brings diversity to the princess brand and now her black classmates don’t have to wish to be white anymore. you could’ve knocked me over with the feather because who coached this girl on this fuckery…? even the moms are like omg im so glad this princess could be such a role model to my daughter[s].
have they never opened a book and taught their children about all the great women of history? if they care so much about their daughters finding black beauty to reflect on why not show them women like angela davis, maya angelou and zora neale hurston to name a few. these women posess beauty plus brains and didnt have to kiss any frogs on the way.
i’m so over this “we need our own _____” attitude when we already have our own. also since when does looking up to a fictional princess equate to having a role model? when i was kid i loved kimberly the pink ranger and the extent of my princess loving was kitana from mortal kombat. where are the girls that pretended to be belle and snow white right now? oh probably complaining about how they hate being single and all guys are jerks because their prince charming hasnt arrived yet.
